Army builds fully equipped hospital in S. Sudan

The Sri Lanka Army has built a hospital in South Sudan, to extend its contribution towards the United Nations Peace Keeping Mission. The hospital, SRIMED is located in Bor, South Sudan, with 66 personnel headed by Commanding Officer Lt Col Saveen Semage, while Lt Col Sherman Fernando, Lt Col Percy Dias, Lt Col Chevindra Bopitiya and Lt Col Arul Murali are the other medical officers.

The hospital consists of an Operating Theatre, Labour Room, Intensive Care Unit, Accident Service, Outdoor Patients Dept, Dental Clinic, Pharmacy, Isolation Ward, Mortuary, Medical Stores, Radiology Unit, Biomedical Engineering Section, ECG Room, Medical Wards, as well as a helipad. The opening of the hospital took place recently with the Director of the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Stephani Scheer as Chief Guest.
