The craze over reality shows by the younger generation and the bitter truth and ugly reality behind them is the theme for ‘Adaraneeya Kathawak’ (A Melody of Love) a musical movie directed by Priyantha Colambage. The film has completed its shooting and is undergoing post-production procedure.

The film revolves around Abhimani Jayawardena, a talented vocalist and musician who meets with a tragic end.  The film is played by Aruni Rajapaksa, Bimal Jayakody, Udari Warnakulasuriya and Hemal Ranasinghe and is produced by Chaminda Gamage and Priyantha Colambage for C2 Creations.

Screenplay written by Uwani Chamika and Priyantha Colambage, camera for ‘Adareenaya Kathawak’ is by Ruwan Costa, make up is by Nalin Prematillake, art direction Manjula Ayagama and music direction is by Udara Samaraweera. Playback songs are by Chitral Somapala, Amal Perera, Kasun Kalhara, Uresha Ravihari, Amila Perera and Kushani Sandarekha.

Priyantha’s directorial debut “Dehena”(Trance) in which he set a new record in Sri Lankan cinema becoming the youngest film director won rave reviews. In 1998, ‘Dehena’ won the highest number of awards for Sri Lanka and represented the country at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

His second film “Vimukthi”(Liberation) was the unanimous choice of local film critiques to represent Sri Lanka at the Kerala, Milwelly and Cairo International Film Festivals. Then he made “Arumosam Wehi” (Fancy Rains) as his third production and it was financed by the National Film Corporation. ‘Arumosama Wehi’ won international accolades including the award for excellence at the 2007 China International Children’s Film Festival in 2002. Taking a break from cinema Priyantha turned to fulltime advertising to create TV and video commercial, documentaries and corporate videos under his own production house the Creative Force.
