The annual young learner drama performance by the members of the British Council Young Learner Drama Club was staged on May 10, 2014 at the

E. L. Senanayake Children’s Library, Kandy before a packed theatre audience. Four months of hard work blossomed into a beautiful production of ‘Beauty is a Beast’; a children’s play adapted from the original by D. A. Larson.
The members were trained by Mrs. Lalitha Gunawardena, a well-known drama teacher.
Apoorva Ekanayake and Kavan Ranaraja were awarded  the Best Actress and Best Actor awards respectively, and Thamashi Pussella was awarded a special prize for her outstanding performance.

The other members of the cast were: Mayumi Hettiarachchi, Akalanka Athukorala, Sulakshani Dissanayake, Parami Athukorala, Dan Bartholomeusz, Rahul Jayasinghe, Sachika Boyagoda, Swairie Athukorala, Rashmin Ekanayake, Abisheick Nandakumar, Dion Bartholomeusz and Dinushie Dissanayake.

It was an evening enjoyed by all, continuing the spirit of this Kandy junior theatre group set up twenty years ago when Mrs. Lalitha Weerasinghe of the British Council directed their first drama, ‘Three Blind Mice’ with 21 members.
