Mobitel has signed up with Sri Lanka’s Department of Excise to “automate a number of its operational processes”, according to a recent statement by the celco.

Further, the statement also added; “Designed by Mobitel’s Business Solutions team, this robust, consolidated web application melds together a variety of field work. This work-flow driven automated application intelligently streamlines the process of data collection and synchronisation thus rendering the processes at the Department far more accurate, efficient and easily accessible to related staff members”.

Additionally noted; “This real-time information chain links the functions of the Department of Excise along with its field crew. Some of these functions include: recording the amount of excise fines collected, maintaining records of excise, tobacco and narcotic related charges and generating the related charge sheets. This system is designed to run on PCs as well as on smartphones. This allows for the instant recording of information, cutting down on time delays usually experienced with manual entry, and further avoids errors encountered with manual entry processes”.
