St. Servatius College Matara’s cricket team preparing for the All Island Schools Under-17 tournament which begins next month proved their strength by defeating the touring John Forrest Secondary school cricket team from Perth, Australia by six wickets at the Uyanwatta stadium Matara.

Batting first the visitors were bundled out for 92 runs in 26.4 overs with Haripriya de Silva, Ashen Deemantha and Ashen Kuruppu capturing two wickets each.

The Servatians scored the winning runs in 12.4 overs. Openers Ashen Deemantha (36) and Thushan Eranga (30) took the match away from the visitors in the first six overs. Jeff Willy returned with two wickets.
