Second half burst gives Trinity win over Joes

View(s):

Led 9-14 at the break, trinity came back with a vengeance and turned the heat on the Josephians to come out winners by 34 points (1 Goal, 3 Tries, 4 Penalties) to 17 (2 Goals, 1 Penalty) at Pallekele yesterday.
Trinity enjoyed an abundance of possession, especially in the second half, and they certainly put it to good use.
SkipperTharinda Ratwatte made an outstanding contribution of 24 points to Trinity’s total. In Bibilical terms: “Without him was not made anything that was made.”

He scored the try of the match when he received a pass from winger Rukshan Sasmin and ran round the defence to score. Centre Chamooth Dissanaike touched down, and winger Lochana Ginihagamuwa showed a clean pair of heels to add another try.
It was the Josephians all the way in the first half as they opened up a five point lead at lemons. HRA Gunewardena went over first and he was followed by skipper and centre Vishmitra Pieris. Both tries were goaled by S. Kurumbalapitiya.

The Joes probably ran out of steam in the second round, having attacked early and shot their bolt.

True to their motto, the Trinitians came back with fire and determination to add 25 points and turned whatseemed a close game into a comfortable victory.

The bus loads of supporters that invaded Pallekele went back happy that their side had given the home team many things to ponder on.
