The Junior Chapter of the Sri Lanka United Kingdom had its inaugural installation ceremony on February 8, at the Royal Colombo Golf Club. The chief guest at the event was Chris Parakrama, President of the Sri Lanka United Kingdom Society.

The Sri Lanka United Kingdom Society (SLUKS) was established in 1985, to strengthen and further promote historical, cultural and social ties between the people of Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.

The committee of the Junior Chapter for 2014/2015: (From left to right): Niroha Peiris, Priscilla Benedict (Treasurer), Gayani Botejue (Secretary), Anitra Varia (Vice President), Chris Parakrama (President, SLUKS), Melissa Abeyasinghe (President), Rohan Victoria (Secretary, SLUKS), Shanika Jayasinghe and Shirell Hallock

The Executive Committee of the SLUKS unanimously decided to establish a Junior Chapter taking into consideration the need to enhance the leadership qualities of the younger generation and encouraging community outreach programs among them.

President Melissa in her address thanked the SLUKS for giving their support and advice to establish the Junior Chapter and outlined their plans.

All those between the ages of 18 to 30 (males and females) with an affiliation to the United Kingdom, who are interested in joining the Junior Chapter, could contact any of the following for further details:
