Indian Army Southern Command holds formal talks with Army Commander

Indian Army’s General Officer Commanding-in-Chief for Southern Army Command, Lieutenant General Ashok Singh, currently in Sri Lanka with a three-member delegation, called on Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army at Sri Lanka Army Headquarters Wednesday (19) evening.

Soon after he was warmly welcomed to the Army Headquarters, amidst military honours, he was introduced to all Principal Staff Officers in the Army and conducted to the Commander’s Secretariat where he received a comprehensive presentation that elaborates Sri Lanka Army’s present day roles as well as training modules in the newly-established Army Training Command (ARTRAC) at Diyatalawa.

The Indian delegation in order to further support fine-tuning of Sri Lanka’s ARTRAC provided some more inputs since it provides training support to soldiers in all facets of development and dissemination of concepts and doctrines in the art and science of warfare. Brigadier Ralph Nugera, Director Training presented the multimedia account to the visitors and before a host of senior officers.
The ARTRAC in the Sri Lanka Army was initiated to be identical to the ARTRAC of the Indian Army.

Afterwards the Indian delegation had a cordial meeting with the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake at his office, in which matters of relevance to both Armies as well as further enhancement of training slots in both organisations, were taken up.

Towards the end of the formal meeting, an exchange of mementos symbolised the good relations between both Sri Lanka Army and Indian Army. The visiting Indian military leader did not forget to leave his memories by signing the VIP book at the Commander’s office.

Before Lieutenant General Ashok Singh arrived at the Army Headquarters, he paid courtesy calls on Chief of Staff at Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters, High Commissioner of India and Chief of Defence Staff.
