On March 21, people across the world will celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. The annual observance of World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) aims to promote awareness and understanding of Down syndrome and related issues, and to mobilise support and recognition for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons living with Down syndrome. Past WDSD activities have had a tremendous impact, as they showcase the abilities, talents and accomplishments of persons with Down syndrome.

This year on Sunday, March 23, the Rotaract District 3220, the Interact Club of Royal College and the Ceylon Classic Car Club will join hands with the Kosala Dullewa Foundation to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day 2014 with four main projects; an awareness vehicle parade, medical camp, variety show and an art exhibition.

The art exhibition and competition “Colours of My World” last year drew 630 paintings from children with special needs portraying the amazing talents and ideas they possess. This year too the organisers of “Colours of My World – 2014” are calling for entries. 50 winners from five age categories will be selected and awarded and all participants will receive certificates at the prize giving which will be held on March 23.

Entries should be sent in not later than January 31, to No. 6, Walagamba Mawatha, Borupana Road, Ratmalana including the following details at the back of the drawing.
