Red Bull new recruit Daniel Ricciardo coming to Sri Lanka
View(s):Daniel Ricciardo, who will partner quadruple-winning champion Sebastian Vettel for Infiniti Red Bull Racing in the new Formula One season, has earmarked Sri Lanka as the destination for his first foreign tour.

The 24-year-old driver will take one of Red Bull’s championship F1 race cars to Galle on December 13 before driving through Colombo on December 15 at the Colombo Night Races. His arrival is a key part of the Red Bull Show Car Run, an initiative which seeks to bring Lankan race fans and car lovers closer to the world of F1 racing.
“I’m excited to go to Sri Lanka, I’ve never been there before and what I do know about the country is through cricket – they’ve got a pretty good cricket team! I’m looking forward to visiting, to seeing a bit more and learning a bit more about the country. In terms of the events, the more fans we see the better and hopefully they’ll be very enthusiastic,” Ricciardo said, while speaking ahead of the event.
“I guess some of them have probably never seen a Formula One car before so seeing the smile on thousands of people’s faces will make me feel like I’ve done my job. That’s what we do these events for – to try to show what goes on in our world and let fans get up close to the car. At a live demo there’s lots of noise and lots of feeling; you feel the vibrations because the car is so close. There’ll be lots of smoke from some burnouts, and hopefully a bit of speed as well so the fans can see what a Formula One car can really do. Hopefully they will have a great time.”
