BRJA to train referees and judges

The Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (ABA) is scheduled to conduct a new course for aspiring referees and judges who are interested in enhancing their present career to the national level boxing. The programme is organised jointly by the ABA and the Boxing Referees and Judges Association (BRJA). This programme will be open for all former boxers, sport personnel and individuals who are interested in the sport of boxing as a career enhancement.

The residential course will be held during the months of January and February in 2014. In January the course will be held from 28 to 31 while in February it will be conducted from 25 to 28 at the Linea Gymnasium in Pallekele.

“This will be a path way to develop boxing officials who are passionate of the sport of boxing. It will also add value to their experience which will benefit to uplift the standards of Sri Lankan boxing,” the ABA in an official statement said.

The conductors will charge Rs. 5000 as course fee. Further information could be obtained by contacting R.K. Indrasena, the secretary of BRJA on 0772441982. The closing day for applications will be December 15.
