The Chief Justice, Judges of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal will soon be assigned Development Officers (Research).
The move comes on a recommendation made to the Cabinet of ministers by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

In terms of the decision, the Ministry of Justice has been directed to select a group of law graduates with proficiency in the English language from among those have recently been recruited to the Graduate Training Scheme. They have been told that these graduates should be absorbed to the Development Officer’s service.

Also on President Rajapaksa’s recommendation, the ministers have decided to provide a Personal Assistant/Private Secretary to the Chief Justice. This post will carry the same perks as those afforded to co-ordinating secretaries to ministries.
