SIGNIS salutation on December 7th
View(s):The longest standing cinema award festivals in Sri Lanka, ‘SIGNIS’ salutation (OCIC/UNDA) will have it 37th festival on December 7 at Tharangani theatre and National Film Corporation, Colombo.
Organised by Sri Lanka Catholic Cinema Parshadaya, local branch of World Catholic Organisation for Communication, this year’s nominations for awards were announced last Tuesday. Among the nominations were Creative Direction- Prasanna Jayakody’s ‘Karma’, Asoka Handagama’s ‘Inavan’, Udayakantha Warnasuriya’s ‘Senasuru Maruwa’ and Sugath Samarakone’s ‘Vijaya Kuweni’.
The films ‘Karma’ produced by Ranjit Page, Magi Lantern and Sky Entertainment, ‘Colour’ by Palitha and Hiranthi Samarasinghe and ‘Iniavan’ produced by Jagath Wellawatte and Anura Fernando have been nominated as year’s most Commendable cinema Productions.
Jagath Manuwarna (Karma), Kamal Addararachchi (Colour) and Channa Perera (Senasuru Maaruwa) have been nominated for Creative Actor while Niranjani Shanmugaraj (Iniavan), Dulani Anuradha (Vijeya Kuweni) and Yashoda Radhakrishna (Matha) have been nominated for Creative Actress.
Among the other awards are Creative Art Direction- Sunil Wijeratne (Iniavan), Dhammika Hewaduwatte (Vijeya Kuweni) and Sunil Wijeratne (Karma).
Creative Music Direction- Nadeeka Guruge (Vijeya Kuweni), Luxman Joseph de Sarem (Matha) and Roha Weerasinghe (Kusa Paba), Creative Camera- Donald Karunaratne, K. A. Dharmasena and Milton Cam (Matha), Palitha Perera (Karma) and Channa Deshapriya (Iniavan).
