‘Are You Ready?’ , the Official Careers Fair of the University of Moratuwa organized by the Rotaract Club of the University of Moratuwa started off with its first session recently. This year marking the 18th consecutive year of the career fair which encompasses six sessions including the Flagship Day which is to be held on December 20 where representatives of companies around the country will meet prospective graduates.

‘CV Clinic’, the first session of ‘Are You Ready? 2013’ is new to the ‘Are You Ready?’ programme line up held so far. Other sessions include ‘Engineers’ Forum’: a panel discussion on current aspects related with engineering, ‘The Criterion’: a workshop to improve professionalism, ‘YOU’ – a guide in building professional networks and ‘Dining Etiquette and Grooming’ workshop. 

The CV Clinic, sponsored by Millennium IT is all about preparing a killing curriculum vita, according to a statement issued by the Rotaract Club. The sessions conducted by representatives from the Human Resource division of Millennium IT succeeded in maintaining the interest of the crowd throughout the session. “The main objective of preparing a CV is to get an interview, not to get the job,” the Millenium IT team were quoted as saying in a statement released from the Rotaract Club.
The participants were also given the opportunity to have their own curriculum vitae checked and corrected during the session. The past Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of the University of Moratuwa, who are now successful professionals in the industry helped out as well.

‘Are You Ready? 2013’ was chaired by Himantha Alahakoon and Sumudu Herath of the Rotaract Club of the University of Moratuwa. Anushka Abeyrathne and Sameera Gunarathne chaired the inaugural session, the ‘CV Clinic’. 

Rotaract is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, international volunteer service organization of students and young professionals. As one of Rotary’s most significant and fastest-growing service programmes, with more than 8,400 clubs in about 170 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon. All Rotaract efforts begin at the local, grassroots level, with members addressing their communities’ physical and social needs while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service, the statement said.
