While Indian High Commissioner Y.K. Sinha addressed the distinguished gathering, there were also dance performances by the students of the Abhinayakshetra School of Dance; song recitals by children of the Sakthi Illam; a veena recital by Gamini Dissanayake of the Colombo University, a short film on the Mahatma and the garlanding of the statue of the Mahatma.
