An unforgettable trip

I was so excited when my mum came home and said that we are leaving tonight to the Knuckles Mountain Range. It was 9 p.m., when we left Colombo in order to avoid major traffic on the Kandy road. I learnt that it would take us five to six hours to reach the Knuckles mountain range.

We stopped at a restaurant outside Kandy. After that we continued our journey, but as we continued we couldn’t escape traffic. After a six-hour drive we reached. Knuckles is located in the Hunnasgiriya area but off Matale. The location where we stayed was in Corbet’s View Lodge in Mee Muraya. It was an eco-friendly bungalow. There are wild rabbits and wild boar. Corbet’s View has a history. It was owned by a British national who bought it.

After that we went down to find a waterfall to bathe. Our guide had shown us how to get there. He was from Corbet’s View and his name was Janaka, While we were going down to the hills our guide told us that these areas are geographically protected. It’s a natural reserve. It’s the only place on earth that has no electrical items being used. It consists of a mini World’s End.

When we reached there I was very scared to go down the slopes, turns and bends; no staircases, no bars even to hold on. One person had slipped down and fallen but he was alright.

After that we went back to the bungalow and packed and got ready to leave the next day. The next day everyone was sad because we were leaving back to Colombo.
