Teachers in Madhya Pradesh would rather ask dogs to taste mid-day meals than experimenting with them themselves.
A teachers’ union in the state has asked its members to feed the mid-day meal to stray dogs before serving it to students.
“Never subject yourself to the experiment,” states the one-page advice by Narendra Tripathi, president of Rajya Adhyapak Sangh, Jablpur.

“What’s the logic in carrying out experiment on teachers when everyone knows that quality of food served as the mid-day meal is not up to the mark.

“The food should be tasted by those who run Self Help Groups or NGOs. Why experiment on us?” said Tripathi in his statement.
However, the district administration reiterated that teachers are bound to taste the food. “It is their (teachers) duty to taste the mid-day meal. Those who won’t taste the food before serving it to students will be punished,” CEO, Jabalpur District Panchayat, Shailendra Singh told journalists.

The district has 2,389 schools and 4,000 teachers.
