The Sri Lanka Festival for the Performing Arts (SLFPA) held a Verse Speaking Recital, on Sunday July 7 at renowned poet Anne Ranasinghe’s home, which saw 18 children reciting her timeless classics out loud.  This was a part of the festival which holds a competition on public speaking, mime, reading aloud and television and radio news reading among children from the SLFPA’s 19 centres around the island.

A medal conferring on her honorary fellowship of the Institute of Music, Speech and Speaking Skills was presented to Anne Ranasinghe, by David Fonville, adjudicator and former BBC radio producer who was present at the event.

SLFPA which comes under the patronage of the British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka , is a member of the British and International Federations of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech. The Festival was held in collaboration with the Institute of Music, Speech and Speaking Skills.
