A new Police emergency unit has been set up to deal with problems arising from religious tension. The unit will operate 24/7.

Senior Superintendent of Police Prishantha Jayakody told the Sunday Times the unit became essential after the recent rise in religious tension in several parts of the country. The unit can be reached at the following telephone contact numbers: 0113182904 and 0113188753.
