Petroleum Corp losses top Rs. 100 billion

Losses incurred by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) exceed Rs. 100 billion, according to a senior official of the Ministry of Petroleum Industries. The amount includes arrears due from state institutions and losses suffered by providing fuel at concessionary rates.

The Ministry of Petroleum Industries has sent out reminders to all state institutions in arrears to pay up to the CPC. Arrears amount to more than Rs. 77 billion.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) owes the biggest sum, Rs. 47 billion, followed by SriLankan airline, which has to pay Rs. 21 billion. The Security Forces are Rs. 14 billion in arrears, and Sri Lanka Railway has to pay Rs. 5 billion.
