‘Creeps’ creeps with Sinhala tough

View(s):

‘The Sinhala version of modern German Youth Theatre production ‘Creeps’ directed by M. Safeer will be staged at 4 pm and 7 pm on August 14 and 15 at Goethe Hall of German Cultural Centre, Colombo 7.

Originally produced by Lutz Hubner, the play shows the youths attempt to reach stardom.
Obscurity, adieu! It’s time to finally get to the place where people can see you; the limelight! This could soon become a dream come true for three young boys, as they have made it to the final round of casting for potential television hosts of a new show: Creeps- a trendy fashion and music show. But only one of them can win, though each of them harbours high hopes of achieving would-be fame.

Lutz Hubner worked as a freelance writer and director since 1996 and he received the German Youth Theatre Award in 1998 for his play ‘The Heart of a Boxer’. His plays have been translated into more than a dozen languages and are now played all over the world.

Sri Lankan version of ‘Creeps’ ‘Ei Mamai’ is played by S. Dayalan, Thiwanka Ranasingha, Illme Hassim and Shamika Dilhan. Stage manager is Hasindu Randil Abeywikrama, music by Duninda Kadigamuwa and still photographs by Tilak Perera.

Lighting and costume designed by M. Safeer, the play is translated by Jayalath S. Gomes and presented by Inter Act Art and Goethe Institute.
