Royal-St. Peter’s rugby clash

Sorry for the mix-up

There seems to have been a mix-up in our coverage of last week’s Royal-Peterite match where the try scorers are concerned. Our reporter, and the other reporters who covered the match, had obtained the names of the try scorers from the incumbent ‘Match Commissioner’, who is an official appointed by the Sri Lanka Schools’ Rugby Football Association. He is officially appointed to keep official records of school rugby matches.

As the Match Commissioner is an independent person, the two respective schools assist him with relevant information. Our newspaper had carried that the tries for Royal (in order) were scored by Wasim Bawa, Damien Ratwatte, Wasim Bawa and Eroshan de Alwis. However the Royal College rugby coach has confirmed to us that the respective tries were scored by Madusha Kularatne, Sachin Vithanage, Madusha Kularatne and Damien Ratwatte.

Furthermore, the name of the Royal College player in the above picture (with the ball) which appeared with the article last week should read as Madusha Kularatne and not Rimzi Jamaldeen.
