APIIT Law School launches Sri Lankan Law Bridging Programme

Established in 2009, APIIT Law School offers a unique 3 year British LLB (Hons) Law degree from Staffordshire University, UK, which enables students to study selected Sri Lankan Law optional modules in their final year, fully accredited by Staffordshire University.

With its first LLB(Hons) graduates anticipated in 2012, APIIT Law School is entering an exciting new phase in its development. APIIT Law School is launching a Sri Lankan Law Bridging Programme to assist Law degree graduates seeking qualification as Attorneys-at-Law to prepare for the Sri Lanka Law College examinations.

Who should enrol?
Part 1 of the programme (2012 launch) is specifically designed for British Law degree graduates required to sit for the first two years of the Sri Lankan Law College examinations on completion of a British LLB(Hons) Law degree, in addition to the final year examinations. Part 1 will cover preparation for the first two years of examinations.

Part 2 of the programme (2013 launch), will be designed for Law degree graduates of local and foreign institutions, who are required to sit for the final year Sri Lanka Law College examinations to become qualified as Attorneys-at-Law in Sri Lanka.

While Parts 1 and 2 of the programme are designed with these target audiences in mind, there are no eligibility criteria for enrolment and anyone may enrol in a subject area of interest to them.
Why choose APIIT Law School to help you prepare for the Sri Lanka Law College examinations?
With comprehensive materials and classes, an expert teaching panel and access to APIIT Law School’s state-of-the-art facilities including library and IT laboratory, APIIT Law School offers a ‘one-stop-shop’ for Law graduates seeking an intensive and focused mode of study and exam preparation.
When will the Sri Lankan Law Bridging Programme be held?

Part 1 of the programme, preparing students to sit the Sri Lanka Law College first and second year examinations, will take place annually in late June to September. The inaugural programme will commence on 28 June 2012 and conclude on 28 September 2012. Comprising 300 hours of teaching support, Part 1 will cover comprehensively those areas of Sri Lankan Law which are new to British Law degree graduates and focus on key differences in those areas of law with which British Law degree graduates are already familiar. This tailored approach will give students the context and knowledge they need to successfully sit their examinations.

Students can opt to enrol in the full Part 1 programme covering all first and second year subject areas, or select subjects. Part 2 of the programme, preparing students for the Sri Lanka Law College final year examinations, will be held for the first time in June to September 2013 and take place annually thereafter. Students may opt to enrol in the full Part 2 programme covering all final year subject areas, or select subjects.
