Colombo Basketball Club bring home another Championship

Colombo basketball club is the most powerful basketball powerhouse in the country. Colombo BC had a wonderful outing as they won the Fr. E. J. Herbert Memorial Inter-Club Basketball Tournament, beating Police SC in the final, at St. Michaels College premises in, Batticaloa, on Sunday.

The Colombo team comprised some well-known players such as Harsha Deva Silva, Roshan Fernando, Jagath Kulathunga, Gayan Croos and arrived at the tournament late, with only eight players, but they performed very well during the entire tournament.

It was easy for the Colombo BC, as they recorded 77 points against police SC 53.Colombo BC took control at the half-way stage and went on to win the final. In the semifinals Colombo BC beat Otters 66 to 54. Police SC beat Carlton 72 to 62 points.

The tournament was organized by St. Micheal’s College, Batticaloa, together with the Colombo branch of its Old Boys Association with the objective of further improving the standard of the game.

Special Awards:
Best defensive player: Harsha Deva de Silva (Colombo BC)
Player of the final: Roshan Fernando (Colombo BC)
