New certificates for old

The AGM of a vital sports body is around the corner and officials are running around to produce their certificates in order to prove their worthiness to contest for the relevant seats. Five such officials have come forward and one has been caught out badly for producing an invalid certificate. For others are fighting shy of producing their credentials. If the certificates are original they should be around 40 to 50 years old. The certificates that these four have produced are new and they too are photocopies.

False claims
It has now surfaced that certain coaches connected with a top sport have been declaring false claims and drawing top salaries with false certificates. While certain coaches have been drawing only around Rs. 50,000 another coach has been drawing a fat salary of Rs. 90,000 with a Diploma from a foreign country to the effect that he had followed some fictitious course. Another coach who is supposed to be a crime buster is also in the news for having produced a false certificate. With all these bogus certificates floating around the big shots in the sport are wondering what the next ruse will be.

Failed fitness test
The news is out that an official sent to officiate at a leading Asian contest has failed the fitness test. This game which involves running and scrumming and kicking requires a lot of stamina. But our nominee has failed the fitness test and this has been informed to the controlling body of the sport in the island. The local body is now wondering whether they too will have to hold fitness tests before sending them to foreign competitions.

Interfering to his heart’s content
A coach of a top sport who is specializing in one aspect of the sport is now interfering in another aspect of the sport. Those in the know say that if this guy is good in one field he should stick to it instead of trying to meddle around with another section of the sport. It is like a fast bowler trying to interfere with a batsman and insisting that he knows both aspects of the game.

Contract for young brother
A top sportsman who even captained the nation at one time is perturbed that his younger brother has not been contracted. This sportsman has threatened that if his bother is not given a contract he will go to the highest authority in the country to get his request fulfilled. Now the authorities in the sport are contemplating on holding further discussions in order to get the young brother a contract.
