Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Avurudu

By Kumal Udamulla (10 years), Gateway College

“Koho, Koho” go the birds,
Avurudu has come,
Start the celebration,
Light the crackers now.

Taste the kiribath steaming,
Gobble the kavum gleaming,
Make your taste-buds fume,
Listen to the beat of the drums.

Hit the pots flying,
Don’t leave a shot!
Run around the village until,
Your feet are burning hot.

Don’t forget the bun race,
The most favourite of all!
Enjoy your Avurudu with goodies all around,
With lots to eat and lots to play
It’s the time I love best of all!
