The Police have been instructed to expedite investigations into sex crime cases, at the request of Childcare and Women’s Development Minister Tissa Karaliyadde.

In recent months. the Police have received a large number of complaints of sexual abuse, especially of minors, Minister Karaliyadde told the Sunday Times. The Minister has appointed a committee to look at ways to give more force to existing laws in order to punish offenders.
