Dissabandara appointed acting DG at SEC

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) on Wednesday said it has appointed Dr. D.B.P. Hareendra Dissabandara, Director of SEC’s education arm, the Financial Services Academy, as its acting Director General with effect from April 2.

The ‘acting’ appointment comes more than five months after Malik Cader resigned in November 2011 as the Director General with the SEC unable to find a suitable candidate despite advertising the post on two occasions thereafter.

A SEC statement said two new Commission Members have also been appointed. S. R. Attygalle, Deputy Secretary to the Treasury will succeed D. Widanagamachchi, Deputy Secretary to the Treasury who retired late last month while S. W. Pathiba Mahanamahewa, Dean Faculty of Law, Kotelawela Defence University has been appointed with effect from March 12, succeeding C.P. E. Gunasingam, who resigned from the Commission on 21st December 2011, the statement said.

Ayanthi Abeyawickrama has been appointed as Director Legal and Enforcement with effect from Monday. She was earlier Asst. Director, Legal and Enforcement of the SEC.
