Not in the picture

We are all happy that we triumphed in Galle. However before the game officials were seen running around in order to get the official photograph ready for the Big Event so that it can be kept for official purposes.

The Big Man of the Sport was not available for the official photograph. Nevertheless the photo was taken and lo! Instead of the Big Man’s picture a former official’s picture had been imbedded in the photo.

Hurriedly the unwanted photo was removed. It looks as if some former officials still yield a lot of power going even to the extent of having their photo inserted when one is not even in the picture.

Two salaries
A leading schools sports body recently presented their Accounts Report. In the Report it was revealed that an allowance of amounting to Rs. Five Lakhs had been given to a volunteer who had done some work for them. It was also revealed that this same official is holding a top post in another sports body and drawing a salary from that sports body as well. The question is can this official draw two salaries?

Same name, same game
The country is all agog about a big cricket event to be held here in the coming months. It is said that a lady is in charge of the tickets for the event. It looks as if this lady is already trying to dole out tickets to people who are faithful to her. Insiders say that this lady is trying to do a job which her predecessor did last year. What’s more she even has the name of the guy who did the tickets for the 2011 event!

The game that failed
The Big Man in Sports did not want a certain individual in the game even though he was trying to be at its helm for the sixth time. Not taking ‘NO’ for an answer this individual had approached another individual who yielded a lot of power and made the request through him to push his name forward for the post. This however did not work! It is said that the Big Man in Sports was against this individual as he does not even know how to behave in front of important people.

Black Arm Bands
We all know that Big Matches mean a lot for its participants and for those who follow the game. Recently an Under 15 Final was to be played and the school concerned had requested a postponement because one school was involved in a Big Match on the same day. ‘NO’ came the answer from the controlling body. The boys however took part in the final wearing Black Arm Bands.

Power struggle
The girls are preparing for a big event to be held in Sri Lanka in August. They were however taken aback when eight in the pool preparing for the event were removed by their employers to take part in a competition of their own. The other girls in the pool are wondering whether they will be at their best when their key players are taken off to fit into another competition. What the powerful can do!
