Easy for St. Sylvester’s

An impressive all round performance by Man of the Match skipper Ruwantha Ekanayake guided his team (St. Sylvester’s) to a comfortable three wicket win over Vidyartha in their first T20 match played at the Pallekelle International Stadium.

Consistent opener Ruwan Bandara made 41 in Vidyartha’s overall total of 95. Vidyartha’s batsmen did not make use of 25 balls, being dismissed in 15.5 overs. Ruwantha Ekanayake and Indunil Samarananda claimed three wickets each while Faiz Ahmed had two.

The experienced Sylvestrian duo of Waruna Wijesinghe and Ruwantha Ekanayake made significant contributions to get to the target. St. Sylvester’s enforced the follow on in the Big Match and Vidyartha drew the match with some difficulty. The Sylvestrians won the Limited Over game and now this. A near clean sweep by Ekanayake’s team.

Vidyartha 95 in 15.5 overs (R. Bandara 41, N. Galapitiage 15, T. Rupasena 10; I. Samarananda 3/9, F. Ahmed 2/44, R. Ekanayake 3/13) St. Sylvester’s 96 for 7 in 17.3 overs (R. Ekanayake 23 n.o, W. Wijesinghe 21, D.Hettiarachchi 12; T. Rupasena 2/29, T. Ranaweera 1/16) – A.K.
