The inter house sports meet is an event looked forward to by every student. Although Principal M L Dhanushka Jayadewa wanted this year’s event to be on a low key, it was not. The chief guest for the afternoon was the zonal Director of Education Mrs G L H Yapa and guest of honour was old Vijithian Manjula Kumara Wijesekera.

Chalanaka Priyanath Weerasingha and Nishadi Wickremasingha are the games captains of this co-ed college which has produced many sportsmen and women who have represented Sri Lanka in the fields of sport.

Manjula Kumara Wijesekera brought credit to his alma mater by representing Sri Lanka at the Athens Olympiad. This humble athlete fulfilled his promise of giving a scholarship of Rs 15,000/= annually to the most promising athlete each year. The first recipient was present games captain Chalanaka Weerasingha who holds the junior national record for the javelin throw. Chalanaka represented Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Youth Games and the World Youth Games in 2011. Swimming would be added to the sporting events of the inter house sports meet next year with the completion of the 25 meter swimming pool a gift from the Ministry of Sports.
