Naulla MMV best in Ella Division

Naulla Madya Maha Vidyalaya is an environmental friendly village school situated in Demodara in the Uva province. The environment at the Naulla M.M.V. is well organized which resulted in the institution being selected as an exemplary school among 30 schools in the 6’S project.

The school was established in 1940 with 17 students by Rev. Naulle Siri Niwasa Himi and Mr.S.M.Gangatthi under the leadership of the first principal Mr.D.Ranhami. Then the school gradually started to develop and became the main school in the cluster. In 1994 the school was placed under 1 AB group and Named Naulla Madya Maha Vidyalaya.

The college today provides education to over 700 students from grade 1 to 13. The present principal of Naulla M.M.V. is Mr. H.M.D.Wijethunga. The college academic staff comprises 50, academically qualified teachers.

The school is well maintained by the Environmental team and equipped with a computer Lab, Science lab and a home science room, an Agricultural Unit, Aesthetic Unit and Carpentry Unit. Naulla M.M.V. has been improving each year and have produced good results at grade 5 scholarships, G.C.E.(O/L), and G.C.E. (A/L). The number of university entrants has increased. In the grade 5 scholarship examination, Naulla M.M.V. students have emerged as the best in Ella Division without a break. This year nine students got through the examination.

The school has maintained excellent academic records in G.C.E.(O/L) and G.C.E.(A/L) examinations. They enjoy 69% in the G.C.E.(O/L) Examination and 64% in the G.C.E.(A/L) examination. Naulla M.M.V. has produced distinguished and renowned personalities to the nation. Some of them are election commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake, Dr. Sunil Wijesekara and Secretary to the Prime Minister Hon. Sena Miyanawala.

Naulla M.M.V. has a great reputation in extracurricular activities. Language Day competition always brings in a large number of All Island awards to this village school. They have been winning the Productivity Award consecutively since 2008. They were awarded 3rd place at the district for being the Best Environment friendly school of the year 2010 and 2011 competitions organized by Green Forest Association. The school is so lucky to have a teacher who is serving as the Divisional Environmental Commissioner and she is the pioneer of these great successes.

There are a variety of associations at the school functioning with great efficiency and productivity. These associations help in creating new skills leadership, personality, positive attitude and many others among the students. The scouts and Girl Guide have been bringing in fame to the school. They are a great source and inspiration to the institution.

The inspiring atmosphere at Naulla M.M.V. has helped to identify and develop the highest potentials of the individuals. The religious atmosphere, the cultural, the environment and educational standards maintained from its inception has earned for Naulla M.M.V. a name recognized and respected by all in the Province.
