An Opportunity for those aspiring to pursue a career in Engineering!

IESL ENGINEERING COURSE
Registration of the second intake of students for the Engineering Certificate Stage 1, open up to 05thJanuary 2011.

About The Course
Success at the GCE A/L Exams opens up new uncertainties to students and their parents. Though eligible your child has to be among the lucky few who will get to enter a state university and even luckier to get to study in the stream of your first choice. The limited intake to state universities invariably causes much heartache to parents and despair to students about their higher education prospects and future. The government recognized Engineering Course that the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) conducts is a lifeline to many students aspiring to become qualified engineers. It has become the most preferred pathway, next to the state universities, to achieve it.

About IESL
The IESL is a professional body incorporated by an Act of Parliament to uplift the engineering profession in the country. Through the years it has positioned itself as an important provider of modern engineering education, grooming scores of students to become qualified engineers recognized by the government.

Course Structure
The Engineering Course conducted by the IESL is equivalent to engineering degree courses of the state universities. It consists of three levels; Engineering Certificate, Engineering Diploma and Graduate Engineering Diploma.

It is specially designed to facilitate lateral entry at the start of Levels 1 and 2 and multiple exits at the end of each level allowing students to achieve qualifications step by step at their own convenience to finally pass out as fully qualified engineers.

Panel of Lecturers
A full complement of Part-time Lecturers from the Engineering Faculties of the state universities and the industry delivers the modules of a most up to date curriculum that provides specialization in the areas of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Communication and IT and Mechanical Engineering, at the Engineering Diploma and Graduate Engineering Diploma levels.

New Intake
The intake of students for the Engineering Certificate Stage 1 Course, due to commence in January 2012, is now underway. The medium of instruction is English. The course is conducted on Saturdays and Sundays at IESL Headquarters. Practical classes are conducted at the University of Moratuwa and Open University of Sri Lanka.
