Something for everyone at fashionista

With Colombo developing rapidly in recent times, super malls, boutique stalls and shops are on the rise, and a shop that stands out is ‘Fashionista.’

Ashkar and Arshard Ilyas

Fashionista is home to some of the most outrageous printed threads - the days where you wanted a t-shirt with your favourite video game printed on it, your favourite quote, band, cartoon, a splash of graffiti ridden designs or anything your eyes fancy, is finally here and available at reasonable prices.

They are all imported designs and this is not the only product the store sells, the store has numerous other products as well. Shirts, be it for a party, an official function or to just rock it out at home, you can find it here. The store offers the ladies a range of gorgeous dresses, skirts, shorts, t-shirts and lots more other one-of-a-kind pieces.

At Fashionista – customers service is a passion, one that owners Ashkar and Arshard Ilyas take very seriously.

Young Ilyas says the duo wanted to do something brilliantly different, we wanted the younger generation, the hippy, the classy, the party rockers to enjoy wearing clothes they see themselves in. “There are heaps of stores in the country that offer you that but which store offers you something you really want to have, want to wear and want to look good in and in prices that you would feel comfortable with? So that really was the intention, to bring sensationally new clothing to Colombo’s youth.”

“The imported shipments arrive every month and customers can flock in and request for their favourite designs or types of clothing, so they could make prior orders just for the dedicated customers. However, the shipment sometimes sells out faster than expected,” the owners added. Fashionista is a cozy, colourful and friendly store, it isn’t big on the inside but it’s big on each shelf and on rail. It thrives on customer satisfaction and goes all out to bring in just the right designs for the people with a passion for fashion.

What is more unique is that each of the pieces at Fashionista are limited editions, there is only one of its design, so the young fashionistas won’t have to worry about a colony of people wearing the same outfit.
“Most stores in Sri Lanka sell the same outfit, so what we wanted to do is have a limited amount of one product so people will feel less frustrated when they see others around them wearing the same, and that has happened to us at least once in our lives”.

Fashionista is located at the heart of the city on 91, New Buller’s Road, Bambalapitiya, Colombo 04
