SLIIT Scholarship Schemes provide vital boost for students’ academic progress

SLIIT, the pioneer in the field of Information Technology in Sri Lanka, also offers degrees in Business Management and Electronic Engineering, and has devised unique scholarship schemes designed to maximise students’ potential while providing a valuable boost for their academic progress and development.

SLIIT provides up to 120 scholarships each year to top students, which includes 40 full scholarships and 80 half scholarships. To date, the institute has awarded scholarships worth 50,000,000, paving the way for valuable opportunities where students can sharpen their skills in their chosen fields of study.
These scholarship schemes provide vital pathways for students through the collaborative efforts of SLIIT’s academic and industry partners, ensuring that students have more scope for development in order to become highly skilled and competent professionals ready to tackle the immense challenges posed by today’s competitive business environment.

The scholarships are grouped as follows; SLIIT Performance-based Scholarships - first year onwards, selected and awarded every semester, SLIIT Z-Score + Performance-based Scholarships - first year onwards, selected and awarded every semester, SLIIT Scholarships for Overseas Students (Students from the South Asian Region), and scholarships offered by donor agencies such as Virtusa, IFS and Exetel.

Scholarships are given entirely on merit. Students registered for Degree Programmes of SLIIT’s partner Universities would be eligible to be considered for SLIIT scholarships up to the SLIIT Diploma level. Scholarship recipients will be selected afresh every semester. Under this Scholarship scheme the full semester course fee or one half of the semester course fee as applicable would be available to the recipients to be set off against the course fee of the following semester.

“The institute seeks to equip students with the skills necessary to meet the challenges of emerging trends within these industries today, and recognizes the growing need to produce top notch professionals who will make an important contribution to these industries” notes Professor Lalith Gamage, President and CEO of SLIIT.

“SLIIT provides valuable opportunities for leading IT and Software Development companies to offer scholarships to selected students to complete the B.Sc. Honours degree at SLIIT. We take pride in our affiliations with foreign universities and within the relevant industries in the country” states Professor S. Karunaratne, Chairman of SLIIT.
