Jaffna University in the lead

Jaffna University Team is in the lead with 59 points and is well set to retain the George Webster Trophy given away to the best cricket team in Jaffna. The ratings are conducted by Jaffna District Cricket Association (JDCA) and the programme is conducted by Jaffna Central Sports Club. In the second place is last year’s runner-up Jolly Star Sports Club with 51.5 points and KCCC Sports Club are placed third with 47 points. The rating is based on performances of the year 2011 which includes 114 matches conducted by the JDCA.

Among other teams lined up in the rankings respectively are Jaffna Johnians SC (23.5), Patrician SC (22), Sri Kamadchi SC (18), Grasshoppers SC (17.5), Centrailites SC (17), Jaffna Central SC (16.5), Skanda Star SC (16), Manipay Parish SC (14), Union SC (11.5), Thirunelvely CC (10), New Star SC (7), Stanley SC (5), Ariyalai Central SC (3) and Old Golds SC (1.5). The top team will receive a cash award in addition to the trophy and will feature in the Triangular Trophy cricket tournament along with the runners-up. The final result of the ranking will be announced on December 30, this year which also coincides with the 10th anniversary of Jaffna Central Sports Club.
