ACCA students committee organize conference on climbing the corporate ladder

The ACCA students committee recently organized a conference on "Climbing the Corporate Ladder" at the Cinnamon Grand ,where many eminent speakers participated.

Speakers at the Conference :- Mrs Aidha Ahamat , the Head of Training at Amba Research Lanka (Private) Ltd ( top, left hand corner) , Mr.Hasitha Premarathne , the Chief Financial Officer at Brandix Lanka ( top , right hand corner) Mr.Reeza Zarook CEO of anything.lk ( bottom , left hand corner) and Mr.Lewis Dias ,the Chief Manager of Cards and Consumer Assets at the Nations Trust Bank ( bottom , right hand corner)

The Chief Guest at the function was Mr.Krishan Balendra President of John Keells Holdings Ltd, whilst the keynote speaker was Mr.Hasitha Premarathne , the Chief Financial Officer at Brandix Lanka , who pointed out that key requirements to be successful in one's career entailed on having the right technical knowledge, academic and professional qualifications required for the chosen profession , good communication skills , the right attitude and flexibility. He stated that it is important to not only be a specialist in your field but in order to aspire to climb the corporate ladder , one also needs to be multi skilled and acquire management skills such as the ability to influence , persuade and manage people , work successfully in a team and the ability of building networks that are relevant to one's field of work.

The other .speakers at the forum consisted of Mrs Aidha Ahamat the Head of Training at Amba Research Lanka ( Private) Ltd who outlined the importance of having a mentor and being in a mentoring programme , whilst Mr.Reeza Zarook CEO and entrepreneur of the successful social media organization "anything .lk "spoke about "thinking outside the box" and explained the concept and practice of daring to be different and elaborated how it could benefit one's career.

Mr.Lewis Dias ,the Chief Manager of Cards and Consumer Assets at the Nations Trust Bank addressed the gathering on employee marketability and how one should brand themselves in a successful manner.

The presentations were followed by a panel discussion on Time Management that consisted of Mr.Lewis Dias ,the Chief Manager of Cards and Consumer Assets at the Nations Trust Bank, Mr.Reeza Zarook CEO of anything.lk, Ms Nisreen Rehmanjee , President of ACCA Sri Lanka and Vice President and Tax Group Head at the John Keells Group,Mr Faizal Saileh, Managing Director and CEO of Amana Bank and Mr.Rohantha Athukolare, Head of National Portfolio Development of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) for Sri Lanka and Maldives.

The aim of this conference was to initiate amongst the ACCA students who had successfully completed their December 2010 and June 2011 examinations , the right tools to be productive and successful employees , which was ably handled by the panel of distinguished speakers ,who both motivated and aspired the participants to reach for greater heights in their carriers.
