SLPA Chairman receives prestigious Seatrade Young Person of the Year award

Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Dr. Priyath B. Wickrama this week received the prestigious award for the Seatrade Young Person of the Year at the Seatrade Middle East & Indian Subcontinent Awards 2011 held in Dubai.

The Seatrade Middle East & Indian Subcontinent Awards is designed to celebrate and reward excellence and innovation in the maritime sector across the region over the previous 12 months. Among other winners at the Seatrade Awards were Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Chairman, Abu Dhabi Ports Company and CEO, Masdar ((Personality of the Year);

Sabyasachi Hajara, Chairman & Managing Director, Shipping Corporation of India (Outstanding Achievement Award); Jorn Hinge, President and Chief Executive Officer, United Arab Shipping Company (Lifetime Achievement Award); Det Norske Veritas (technical innovation); Drydocks World-Dubai LLC (Ship repair/Shipyard); Ras Laffan Industrial City (Port Authority Award); Bahrain Logistics Zone (General Organisation of Sea Ports, Bahrain - Free Zone Authority Award); P&O Maritme Services (Marine & Offshore services).

The awards was held in the midst of the Middle East Money & Ships 2011 conference in which Dr Wickrama was also a participant.
