‘Boardwalk’ to Hollywood

Elizabeth Moir School’s new production, ‘Boardwalk’ will take audiences on a journey through Hollywood with songs and dances from different movie genres.

The concert is a journey into Hollywood ‘from the studio to the street’ with music and dance inspired by popular film genres like Science Fiction, Westerns, High School dramas and Bond films. Show will feature songs by artists like Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson to Bruno Mars and Rihanna.

The original mash-ups are a particular highlight, giving much-loved old favourites a new twist and more contemporary feel. The dancing is equally fresh and original, taking in an extremely wide variety of style from a cheerleading routine to popping and locking.

No expense has been spared, with spectacular lighting and stunning visuals and projections. As ever with the school concerts, there are a few surprises too that will amaze the audience with breathtaking special effects. So hold on tight, strap yourself in, and launch yourself into Elizabeth Moir School’s very own version of Hollywood.

The show is directed and produced by students Avishka Mendis, Dilroshini Karunaratne and Shamira Ghouse who were the lead performers from the school’s previous concerts with a wealth of experience behind them.

They have received guidance and support from Aida Mansoor, who has numerous shows under her belt such as Dazzle (2006), as well as past student Zara Mathew, the director of 2007’s Breakin’ Bars, who has helped with the choreography.

‘Boardwalk’ will be at the Lionel Wendt Theatre from Oct 28 - 29th. Tickets are available at Elizabeth Moir Senior School
