Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka 8th Graduation Ceremony

The Institutes of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka, since its inception 11 years ago celebrated its 8th Graduation Ceremony on 12th September 2011 at the BMICH. This occasion
was graced by Chief Guest Prof. Malik Ranasinghe, Vice Chancellor, University of Moratuwa and Guest of Honour Mr. Sunimal Fernando, Advisor to the President.

With this event CMA moved another milestone and recognized and presented awards to students who have sat the examinations of CMA in September 2010 and March 2011. This comprised Intermediate Stage 220, Professional I Stage 154, Professional II Stage 48, Associate Management Accountants designation recipients 55, Prize Winners 31, Associate Members 50, Fellow Members 10 and Scholarship holders. The total student population has grown to 14,241 and the Associate and Fellow membership number to 2070. Scholarships were awarded to School Leavers, University Students and Government and Private Sector Employees. There were 81 scholarship recipients.

CMA is incorporated under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Internal Trade, similar to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. CMA is a member of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) which includes the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and the Chartered and Management Accounting bodies of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.

CMA was admitted as a member of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in December 2009 and joins the fraternity of Professional Accounting bodies in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. CMA also received the Associate Membership of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) in November 2010. IFAC consists of 125 countries and the membership comprised of 164 member bodies with a total membership of more than 2.5 million accountants in public practice, education, government service, industry and commerce.

CMA offers an affordable (1/10th the cost of foreign courses), flexible and easily achievable route to a professional qualification for advanced level qualified students, undergraduates, graduates as well as those in employment. This Management Accounting programme is available via accredited tuition colleges, self Study, and eLearning conducted by CMA.

Those who qualify at the CMA and obtain their membership will be able to use ACMA for Associate Certified Management Accountant and FCMA for Fellow Certified Management Accountant.
