National Police Academy up for debate

The Government will seek Parliamentary approval for setting up a National Police Academy when a Bill to this effect is taken up for debate on Thursday.

The Bill provides for setting up a permanent educational institution to develop the professional knowledge and skills of police officers and other law enforcement officers selected for training at the academy.

A board of management will be appointed to manage and administer the academy.
