St. Peter’s and Maliyadeva in final showdown

Under 17 Division One Final

Defending champions St. Peter’s and Maliyadeva Kurunegala will battle in the final showdown of the Under 17 Division One cricket tournament when they clash in the final scheduled to be played at the CCC ground today.

Maliyadeva will be contesting in a major final of a junior tournament after nearly a lapse of 15 years while St Peter’s who won the tournament last year defeating Trinity have been regular finalist for the last few years.

In the run up to the final Maliyadeva overcame some strong and fancied schools in the metropolis in the likes of St Sebastian’s and Wesley whom they defeated in the quarter and the semi final encounters.
In fact they defeated St. Peter’s in a second round match and it will be left to seen whether they could repeat that performance again.

Maliyadeva Kurunegala – Leo Fransisco (Captain), Thineth Manishka (Vice Captain), Kusal De Silva, Tharuka Rajaguru, Rasanjana Jayaratne, Bhanuka De Silva, Gayan Jayantha, Arju Tennakoon, Sharinda Dassanayake, Minod Ranasinghe, Chandima Bandara, Shashika Atapattu, Charith Rathnayake, Chamod Rajapaksha, Tharindu Punchihewa.

St. Peter's Bambalapitiya – Dushan Hemantha (Captain), Julian De Zylva (Vice Captain), Ranitha Liyanarachchi, Jason Buultjens, Janith Liyanage, Sohail Shakil, Sudil Dissanayake, Lahiru Milantha, Kavinda de Tissera, Chathuranga Rajapaksha, Shasheen Fernando, Chemila Obesekara, Isira Costa, Oshan Karunarathne, Miyuru Jayasinghe, Nirmal Fernando, Shanil Melder.
