St. Servatius clinch U-15 div II title

By P D de Silva
St Servatius College Matara won the under 15 division two cricket tournament that ended in a nail biting finish at the BRC grounds last Wednesday. The match was reduced to 33 overs per team because of the morning deluge.

On winning the toss St Peters ‘B’ opted to bat first and were curtailed to 88 runs in 30.1 overs. Ashen Deemantha continued his good bowling form by claiming 4 wickets for 11 runs in his 7overs for the Matara lads. Riyan Perera made 26runs in 54 balls.

Petes at one stage did well to see St Servatius tottering at 33 for 5 but Ramesh Nimantha 23 in 48 balls with 4 boundaries and Pamod Weerasekera 20 off 43 deliveries put on 49 runs for the sixth wicket.
St. Peter’s 88 (Riyan Perera 26. Avishka Jayasinghe 13. Ashen Deemantha 4/11. Ramesh Nimantha 3/11)..

St. Servatius 89/8 in 32.4 overs. (Ramesh Nimantha 23. Pamod Weerasekera 20. Avishka Jayasinghe 2/10 Sadeesh Pathirana 2/20).
