BCSSL holds Judges briefing for NBQSA 2011

As a part of the quest in continuously improving the quality of ICT products developed in Sri Lanka, BCS the Chartered Institute for IT Sri Lanka Section recently carried out a briefing session and judges gathering for the Panel of National Best Quality ICT Awards (NBQSA) 2011 competition at the Hotel Galadari VIP Lounge, where prominent professionals from academia and industry took part as members of this year's NBQSA Judging Panel.

The NBQSA judging panel is selected based on their knowledge of ICT and expertise in their relevant fields. Each award category is judged by a separate panel of judges comprising of these experts. Gold, Silver and Bronze awards would be presented for each category if the entries meet required standards. The Judging Panel comprises of industry experts selected based on their ICT knowledge and experience from diverse disciplines such as IT, Engineering, Management, Accounting, and Marketing etc. and they represent both the Public & Private sector and the Academia.

The appointment of Judges is done adhering to strict criteria and conditions to ensure unbiased and objective evaluation along with strict confidentiality is maintained throughout the NBQSA process. The expertise of the judging this panel was proven consistently during the last few years, when the winners of NBQSA won Gold and Merit awards at Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) for several years, competing with nations such as Australia, China from East to Pakistan from West through South & South East Asian countries.

Prof. Gihan Wikramanayake, Chairman of the BCS the Chartered Institute for IT Sri Lanka Section informed the gathering that these types of events are carried out to by BCS Sri Lanka Section to improve the quality of ICT Industry in Sri Lanka.

Shedding some insight into the NBQSA judging process Ruwan Amarasekara, Honorary Secretary, BCS - The Chartered Institute for IT Sri Lanka Section stated that regional & International judging standards have been taken into developing the NBQSA 2011 judging process and criteria to further enhance the quality of the judging process. He further stressed the importance of live demonstrations of the competing products during the judging process.

The Gala awards presentation of NBQSA 2011 is scheduled to be held on 7th of October at the Hotel Galadari. The winners of NBQSA will also be eligible to take part in the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) competition in Thailand, Pattaya during 8th to 11th of November this year.
