TMC - a mirror that reflects the light of knowledge

"WISDOM 2011" - 24th September
Edith Wharton the award winning American novelist, short story writer and designer said that There are two ways to spread the light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.

TMC - Wisdom quiz - Dharmaraja - Best school team - 2010

The Management Club (TMC) has over the years been a Mirror that reflects the light from the candle of knowledge through their efforts in organising Quiz events for five consecutive years.

The Management Club (TMC), was formed in 2002, under the auspices of the Chartered Management Institute and has over the years grown to become a place for professional managers in Sri Lanka to network and interact while sharing and gaining from the experiences of one another.

TMC had the good fortune of having Sri Lanka's representative of the International Quizzing Association ( IQA) , Ruwan Senanayake, himself an ardent quizzer, as one of its founder members, who readily responded to their idea of conducting a table quiz event, when this proposal came up for discussion in June 2006.

Thus the TMC Wisdom Quiz was launched in September that year and was an instant hit with Quizzing enthusiasts in Sri Lanka, who welcomed the high standard of the questions, the seriousness with which the event was conducted and the professionalism that the team at TMC added to its success.
This Quiz event has always been worked out to perfection, and in the most competitive spirit - tie breaker rounds being required to decide the top slots, almost all the time.

The sixth annual TMC Wisdom Quiz will be worked out at the Galle Face Hotel on Saturday 24th September from 4 pm. TMC is pleased that they have been able to continue this event uninterrupted for the past five years at the same venue, with greater interest from the participants during each successive year, that has now made it the most popular Table Quiz event in Sri Lanka.

The stakes will be bigger this time and the overall winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 75,000/- in addition to the TMC Wisdom Trophy. The runners-up will receive Rs 40,000/= and a trophy. The 3rd 4th and 5th placed teams will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 25,000/=, Rs 20,000/= and Rs 15,000/= respectively.

The Quiz will follow the same format, this year too - a team event with 5 members per team. It will be open to four sectors - Schools & Educational Institutions, Public & Mercantile Firms, Banks and Financial Institutions and independent groups.

The five rounds of Questions will be based on 5 areas - Current Affairs, Sports, General Knowledge, Space & Astronomy & Arts/Literature and Entertainment.

The registration fee is Rs 10,000/- per team and TMC has decided to extend a special concessionary registration fee of Rs 8,000/- for school teams in a bid to further assist the younger stars of the future on this knowledge enhancement initiative.

Applications will be accepted on a "first come - first served" basis as the number of teams will have to be limited to a maximum of 40 due to space constraints and other logistical arrangements.

Those interested in taking part, but have still not confirmed their participation could do so by contacting the TMC desk at Galle Face Hotel on 5860000 or by calling 0777 418191.

The Management Club takes pride in the fact that they have been a Mirror that reflects the light from the candle of knowledge through their efforts in organising the TMC Wisdom Quiz event for five consecutive years.
