For tertiary studies – Why Australia? Why Edlocate?

Australia is one of the world’s most advanced countries. The economic turbulence that affected major countries a few years ago had no effect on its economy. Australia’s prudent economic policies, strong financial disciplines and abundance of natural resources the new developing countries need, has placed it as one of the best to work in. The carefully managed migration policies and efforts to integrate all communities resident in Australia to embrace Australian values and respect each other regardless of colour, creed, religion, ethnicity etc has made it an excellent place to live. The country is vast. It has an ageing population and needs more educated young people with the right skills to join its workforce as permanent residents. While Australia looks for highly qualified and experienced people to migrate, it prefers those young people who study in Australia and qualify, at the end of their studies, to get used to the “Australian Way of Life and Work” .

The majority of universities in Australia are state funded to some extent and thus are subjected to regular audits as to standards of the courses offered, academics, students, results and all related aspects. Thus all Australian universities maintain high standards. Most “top end” universities especially the Group of Eight (Go8) universities also give priority to research projects and bid for research grants which make them a cut above the rest. Most Australian universities are regularly included in the world’s best 500 universities.

Edlocate represents 16 Australian universities with direct representation agreements – 7 of them in the prestigious Group of Eight (Go8). The latest representation is for University of New South Wales (UNSW). Edlocate has provided over a decade of unblemished services to students in Sri Lanka and Maldives to study in Australia. For those students with insufficient direct entry results Edlocate is able to provide excellent pathway programmes linked to the universities it represents. For postgraduate students Edlocate is able to establish links with supervisors in the related school / faculty in order to select the right course. It also represents two Malaysia based universities that could offer pathway programmes to selected Australian universities to meet requirements of parents who have financial constraints.

While Edlocate is a Centre for registration for IELTS Examination at British Council, it conducts in-house IELTS coaching classes for students as English communication capabilities for post study purposes in Australia have been increased. It is a Streamlined Student agency appointed by the Australian High Commission in Colombo to issue Pre Visa Assessment thus making it easier and quicker for genuine students registered with Edlocate to obtain a student visa.

Student counsellors are educated and well experienced and are committed to patiently guide the students through the career path, course and institutional selection and efficiently handle enrolments enabling students to be at the institution in time to commence studies. Counsellors can provide first hand information having visited establishments Edlocate represents .They welcome parents and are always at hand to meet them to assist in every possible way. All these services are offered on a complimentary basis.

Edlocate has its main office in Colombo and branch office in Kandy. The international office in Adelaide Australia is assisting students during the course of studies and thereafter. Facilities are also provided through associate companies of Edlocate for students and parents to find accommodation in Australia, arrange meeting and transfer arrangements on the first visit, air tickets through its preferred travel agent and visit visa applications to Australia for parents and siblings of students during the period of their studies in Australia.
