University of Ballarat opens Study Centre for Sri Lankan students

Our longstanding history:
The University of Ballarat had its beginning in 1870, making it the third oldest tertiary education institution in Australia. It is the only regional multi-sector university of Australia. The student base of 25,000 has the opportunity to choose from a wide range of higher education and TAFE programmes.
University of Ballarat has six campuses, in Australia alone, and works with a wide range of partner institutes in Australia and around the world.

UB has been rated five stars for its teaching quality by the Australian Good Universities Guide for three years continuously. UB has taken the initiative to inaugurate a study center in Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan campus will endeavour to fulfill the longstanding requirements of Sri Lankan students by offering an international education at an affordable cost and within their easy reach.

The student who enrols will be directly enrolled into the University of Ballarat, and will be a UB student from day one. The academics in UBSL study centre will be moderated directly by UB Australia. The student will be studying the same courses as their counterparts in Australia at 1/3rd of the cost.

Our Courses Foundation in Business & IT
The foundation course in Business and IT consists of accredited units from a range of approved training packages co-delivered within one program. All units operate within the Cert IV in ESL (further study) framework and are clearly relevant to the entry requirements for UB Bachelor of IT and Bachelor of business degrees. This is a recognized University Foundation Program.

Bachelor of Information Technology
BIT is an innovative program designed with the input from our major IT industry partner IBM. Upon completion of this program the student will have achieved industry standards, a recognized qualification, and will have the foundation to become a leader in the field of Information Technology. The student will understand technological innovation, and will appreciate the current usage of IT in business and industry environments and also trends in computing and to be able to analyze design and implement up-to-date computer based systems including those related to Internet Technology, multimedia and web based applications.

BIT includes four specialization areas: they are Software Development, Software Engineering, Networking and Business Information Systems

Bachelor of Business
The Bachelor of Business will enable students to acquire a sound working knowledge of strategic business concepts. It will provide skills to work in a wide range of business environments or to start up a new business. This program integrates theory and practice, providing graduates with a choice of careers in the ever changing business world.

Bachelor of Commerce
The Bachelor of Commerce is designed as a flexible program; it will give you the skills you need to be a leader in commerce and business. It focuses on the hard edged skills needed for professional bodies as well as providing a well defined career path for professionals in the world of commerce.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)
The MBA of UB comes with three popular specializations. This will widen the managerial knowledge and skills of a person. The philosophy underlying this MBA is to enable our students to deal with the many facets of management. This program aims to develop skills in critical thinking, research and analysis through individual projects and teamwork.

Students can specialize in Marketing, Human Resource Management and Financial Management areas in this MBA.

Masters of IT and Information Systems
Our MIT and MIS are designed to impart advanced knowledge to the students seeking further education in the field of Computer technology. These courses aim to develop the skills in the fields af computer application at the research level.
