An exclusive preview of Chrissy Rozairo's brides

Renowned Sri Lankan stylist, Chrissy Rozairo, unveiled her bridal collection designed especially for this year's Bride and Groom Fair. The collection consisted of four bridal outfits: a Kandyan style one, an Indian one and two western inspired ones. These styles are popular among Sri Lankan brides at present and Chrissy has been preparing the designs for Bride and Groom with great care and enthusiasm.

The Kandyan style bridal outfit remained traditional although the heavily worked Indian saree draped into an osariya gave it a unique touch. The pearls and dull gold jewellery complemented the colours of the osari. There was an overall air of glamour about the outfit.

Bright colours set the tone for the Indian bridal outfit. Along with the heavy jewellery and bold make-up, this look was traditional and glamorous at once and was enhanced by the batik print. The deeper complexion of the model presenting the outfit ensured she carried off the vibrant look. The batik fabrics used in the design were provided by Erik Suriyasena.

The western outfit in the collection exuded simplicity and elegance, while representing the most modern trends. Sequins, pearls, lacework and cutwork gave the designs a feminine appearance. The jewellery was dainty and the make-up was light to suit the outfits.

The hairstyles of the models were diverse as they were unique to the features and shapes of each face. The natural flowers used gave the different looks a subtle softness. To complete all the designs, great attention had been paid to the manner in which the various elements of the outfits - jewellery, shoes, flowers, make-up and hair - complemented one another.

Jewellery was courtesy of Stone 'n' String and Marie Samarasinghe prepared the bouquets.
The Kandyan and Indian style bridal outfits were modelled by Christine Karunaratne and Sumudu Prasadini. The western outfit was worn by Ashi de Silva whilst Kristina Pereira was dressed in a saree draped in an Indian style.
