25th Anniversary celebration of the BENS 86 Batch

This unique Batch of the BENS 86, a bunch of eloquent past students of St, Benedict's College Kotahena who decided to stay in touch and return their gratitude to their alma mater, was formed by them just after their Advanced Level Exam in 1986.

The name of BENS 86 Batch among Benedictines is famous for their outstanding commitment shown to improve the standards of the school from the perspective of the students to the administration.

To achieve their aim by returning their gratitude, many projects had been launched throughout a life span of 25 years and the 86 Batch of the BENS is proud that even though busy in their professional schedule they have been able to be committed to the school. Some of the projects launched are: donation of office equipment to the Upper and Primary school, restoring the College clock tower, awarding a 22KT Gold medal to the best student of A/L, launching a sports project to the primary students in cricket and football, organising a vehicle fun rally, organising the traditional JOE-BEN 50 over Cricket match with the assistance of generous sponsors, granting financial assistance to various individual talents in sports, and providing welfare to the retired members of the staff when requested.

This enthusiastic Batch of 86 who celebrate the 25th Anniversary, have thought of felicitating the teachers who guided them from the nursery to the A/L class by inviting them for a ceremony and fellowship dinner on August 19 2011 at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo. Overseas members of this elite Batch are also expected to grace this occasion.

The secret behind this unique Batch is that the members have been always together as per the motto "Stand we together" from pre-school days and has now been committed for the well-being of the school. The President for 2011 of this Batch Mr. Naushard Mohideen who is also the Chairman of the Old Bens Dance committee this year is in the forefront to see that this great event would be a success, and as usual is backed by Mr. Hiranjan Perera, the Chairman of the Organizing committee with the rest of the members rallying round.

Any loyal Old Ben if willing to coordinate with this unique Batch to assist their alma mater are most welcome and could contact the Organizing Committee Chairman, Mr. Hiranjan Perera on 0773077157. -an old Ben
