An ultra modern hall for D.S. Senanayake College Colombo 7

Senanayake College Colombo 7 commences the construction work on the refurbishing project on the proposed ultra modern hall which will be completed in different stages.

It was started at the auspicious time with a "Pirith Ceremony" on July 7. The principal Mr. D.M.D. Dissanayake stated that the ultra modern hall was expected to cost around rupees 50 million at its final stage of completion. The college hall constructed in 1984 was named R.I.T. Alles Hall as a mark of respect for the founder principal. The spacious hall situated in the heart of the city is a boon to the students of the College.

The proposed ultra modern hall which can accommodate 2000 guests will be installed with a central air-condition unit, cctv camera, Dolby sound system, fire and safety alarm system, modern toilets, comfortable seats with separate facilities for VIPs in a landscaped surrounding.

The primary principal Ms.Nimali Kuruppu a charismatic lady who spearheaded the campaign among the parents in the primary sector to source funds for the implementation of the state-of-the-art ultra modern hall is in the forefront of appreciation for her dedication to achieve the objective. Mr. Anil Karunaratne Secretary SDS says that the architects and the civil engineers involved in refurbishing are none other than the parents of the children, who volunteered their professional services.

It is through unity and brotherhood that we have been able to achieve our mission under the leadership of our principal Mr. D.M.D. Dissanayake. The hall when completed will not be second to any of the other halls in the island. It will not only benefit the children of the school but also a source of income for the school on rentals. This will be the biggest hall in the island among the schools at present.

D.S. Senanayake College which is a trendsetter which carries the motto "COUNTRY BEFORE SELF" inculcates discipline, and love for the country among the children and has earned a reputation as one of the best national schools is the island today.
